950 megawatts in the national network – the face of the truth – ✍️ Ibrahim Shaqlawi

Infrastructure projects, in particular in the energy sector, are one of the important indicators of the state’s capacity to restore its basic functions and to consolidate the concept of national sovereignty, in particular in post-war or political transitions. In the Sudanese case, electricity is considered to be one of the most important pillars of the reconstruction of the State and a strategic corner of the equation of political stability and economic and social development.
In this context, the news of the signing of the takeover contract at the “Clarib” power station is acquired the day before in Istanbul, Turkey – according to Sudansawa – the importance of double, in terms of call for a faulty project for years confidence in service institutions.
The signing of the employment call contract in the two villages of “Villages de Clainib” – one of the most important strategic projects in the state of Khartoum and the Red Sea – is an important step, especially since the project is due to a previous agreement concluded in 2016 between the Sudanese government and the German company “Siemens”, to establish two stations with a total capacity of 950 Megawatts.
Although the project fell due to political changes, the signing of the new contract under the direct supervision of the former Minister of Energy, Dr. Mohieldin Al -Naeem, brought the project before development priorities. A certain number of observers considered him as a qualitative breakthrough confirming the possibility of reactivating major projects whenever technical leadership, financing and political will are available.
As we know, energy projects today constitute one of the tools of real sovereignty, because electricity has become a vital service and daily demand and a criterion to measure the extent of the authority’s commitment to the citizen, and an indication of the capacity of the State to fulfill its fundamental functions.
In this context, the Prime Minister’s previous visit, Dr. Kamel Idris, is acquired by the strategic importance “Clainib”, because it confirms the “government of hope” of the importance of linking the political file to the development and adoption of infrastructure projects as a point of development to bring confidence and strengthen the legitimacy of executives. There are visits expected in other development projects.
The choice of the “Clarib” station at the Sudan port, as well as the “villages” station in Khartoum, reflects the importance of the equitable geographical distribution of energy sources between the center and the states. While the “villages” support the manufacturing industries and the Khartoum refinery, “Claanib” contributes to improving the capacities of ports and marine industries, in addition to the production of pure water, which makes it directly linked to the resolution of the problem of thirst in the state of the Red Sea, where electricity is an essential tool to achieve regional balance and improve national integration.
The “Clarib” project is linked to a broader vision developed by the Ministry of Water Resources and Electricity in 2015, aimed at increasing the complex capacity to 6,500 megawatts by 2030, by widening thermal stations and while heading for alternative and renewable energy sources.
However, the lack of political stability has led to the freezing of the implementation, which opened the door to questions about the extent of the Sudanese state capacity to join its strategic plans. As we know, electricity projects in recent years have suffered from institutional weakness and the lack of vision, and therefore what we are witnessing attempts today to revive them represents a historic opportunity to redefine the role of the state of development.
The “Clainib” station is a model for the convergence of sustainable development objectives, combining energy safety and water safety, which opens the way to extend the experience in other states that suffer from a similar service fragility. The return of the project to the implementation service represents a transgression of technical dimensions to the strategic trend to increase the efficiency and quality of planning.
It should be noted that the signing of the contract has launched a wave of popular optimism because it should help improve the reality of citizens. According to observers, it is not possible to forget the central role played by the former Minister of Energy, Dr. Mohiuddin al-Naeem, to reactivate the “Clarib” project, despite the institutional and political challenges that the sector is confronted.
Bliss is one of the independent national skills and has long experience in the fields of energy, training and management, as well as a varied academic qualification in law and administration. A certain number of observers believe that re-assignment within the new government expected the tasks of the ministry can help improve the technical and administrative stability of this sector, because it is a specialized leadership capable of converting vision into a serious and tangible executive reality.
The question remains: according to what we see from the face of truth, does the Sudanese government have, in the light of a fragile political and economic environment, a will and an institutional capacity to translate this vision and this contract into a productive executive reality? People quickly entered 950 megawatts in the national network that suffers from the hands of the rapid support militia and its falsification supporters.
You are fine and well.
