Final arrangements for the launch of the new currency will be finalized on Wednesday

The process of replacing the national currency will begin on Wednesday, with the authorities having completed all preparations to ensure the success of the process. In this context, the Governor of the Northern State, Mr. Abdeen Awad, chaired a meeting in his office as Chairman of the Foreign Exchange Replacement Committee, to discuss the latest arrangements and coordination with the relevant authorities, notably commercial banks and the Central Bank.

The Minister of Finance, Mr. Amir Hassan, confirmed that banks and committees have expressed their readiness to initiate the process, indicating that the Central Bank today responded to requests for withdrawal of the new currency so that it is available from tomorrow. corresponding to December 10, 2024.

The minister explained that the replacement process requires the opening of bank accounts for citizens and civil servants, as the accounts are opened using the national number to facilitate the registration process. He called on citizens to fully cooperate in this process, stressing that it is part of national efforts to protect the local currency and strengthen the national economy.

The minister said state employees' salaries will be paid into bank accounts, which requires concerted official and popular efforts to make the replacement process a success and preserve the rights of all parties. He described the move as a purely patriotic act equivalent in importance to the “Battle of Dignity.”

For his part, the Director of the Bank of Sudan, Mr. Fath al-Rahman Malik, confirmed the bank's willingness to launch the new currency, praising the coordination between the authorities concerned to ensure the ease and smooth running of the process. .

This measure is part of the State's efforts to achieve monetary stability and strengthen confidence in the financial system, against a backdrop of expectations of a broad response from citizens and institutions.
