The Sovereignty Council, while mourning him, mourns for the Sudanese people a unique and distinguished scholar, considered among the greats and masters of law in the country, and a constitutional reference at the regional and international levels. The deceased was the first Sudanese dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Khartoum after Sudanization, and during his career full of distinguished gifts, he held positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice , and he also assumed the post of President of the Constituent Assembly during the third democratic period. He also later served as Chairman of the South Sudan Referendum Commission.
