Dear Citizens… Dear Citizens of South Sudan and those who may be interested – Important Statement
We have followed with great concern the criminal incident in the town of Wad Madani, Gezira State.
The Government of Sudan has issued statements of denunciation and condemnation, categorically condemning the barbaric and unprovoked attacks in which innocent lives were lost.
As a result, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council, immediately established a commission of inquiry to investigate the events. The perpetrators will be questioned, brought to justice and held accountable.
I call on affected communities in Sudan and South Sudan to remain calm, despite understandable feelings, and avoid being drawn into further criminal reprisals.
The Government of Sudan appreciates the immediate intervention of the Government of South Sudan to protect the lives of innocent Sudanese civilians from the widespread incidents that occurred in Juba city and elsewhere following the civilian incidents.
No one has the right to take justice into their own hands.
May God protect Sudan, South Sudan and our people.
