In this context, the decision to reconstitute the national mechanism for the protection of civilians and to reformulate the corresponding national plan constitutes a positive step towards strengthening the legal and humanitarian protection of civilians.
The statements of the Vice President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Commander Malik Agar, in which he denounced the American sanctions imposed on the President of the Council, reflect the sensitivity of the Sudanese issue at the international level. He also emphasizes popular cohesion around leadership and places the blame on the opposition forces, whom he accuses of settling political scores to the detriment of the nation's interest.
The restructuring of the national mechanism for the protection of civilians is of the utmost importance in light of the current circumstances, for several reasons, including changing conditions on the ground, which require continuous review of existing mechanisms and updating of plans and measurements. strategies adapted to new challenges and international obligations. Strong political differences can affect the ability of the parties involved to cooperate in this area. area, and the mechanism may be exposed to pressure from international powers, which may affect its independence and effectiveness.
To achieve the objectives of the National Mechanism for the Protection of Civilians, it is proposed that civil society participate widely in the process of formulating and implementing plans, in addition to strengthening cooperation with relevant regional and international organizations. with the protection of civilians, while disseminating information relating to human rights violations, improving the transparency of investigations and allocating the financial and human resources necessary for the implementation of plans and programs.
The restructuring of the national mechanism for the protection of civilians represents an important step towards establishing peace and stability in Sudan. However, the success of this mechanism requires the combined efforts of all parties involved and the resolution of the challenges facing the country.
