Inauguration of the African Union Electronic Press Office in Shendi

In an important step towards strengthening electronic media in Sudan and the North African region, the African Union Office for Electronic Journalism was opened in the town of Shendi, under the supervision from the Union's headquarters in Cairo. Under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohamed Abdel-Azim Mahjoub, publisher of the Shendi Madinati newspaper, responsible for the Union's activities in Sudan, this distinguished event constitutes the first inauguration of the office in Sudan, and highlights the importance of digital journalism and of its activities. leading role in knowledge exchange and media empowerment on the African continent.

The Shendi Electronic Press Office is an important step in the African Union's efforts to activate digital media at the regional level. Through it, support and advice will be provided to local journalists in the areas of electronic journalism and modern technologies. This office is also considered an important source of knowledge and resource exchange between Sudanese journalists and other African countries.
The Sudanese African Union Electronic Journalism Sector is supervised by a Special Representative from the Union Headquarters in Cairo, who leads all activities and programs related to electronic journalism in Sudan.
The city of Shendi is considered a source of media contribution in Sudan and has always been a source of journalistic creativity. With the opening of this office, Shendi is proud to become a focal point for electronic media in Sudan, contributing to the development of digital journalism at the national and African levels.

One of the most notable events of this event was also the announcement of the start of registration of members of the Sudan Electronic Press Association, which started registering 700 members, reflecting the interest of local journalists to engage in this evolving field. Members will also be able to benefit from all the services and opportunities offered by the African Union, including specialized training in digital journalism.
