Towards a Sudanese cultural charter ✍️ Taha Harun Hamed

In the light of the challenges with Sudan is confronted in the construction of a fair and complete state, the urgent need for a Sudanese cultural charter is dedicated to the values of cultural diversity and improves the recognition of multiple inheritances as a basic form of national identity. This charter does not only concern recognition of diversity, but also seeks to transform it into a source of strength and community cohesion, ending the exclusion state and establishes a public space that embraces everyone equitably.
This charter stipulates the need for positive and organized discrimination in favor of marginalized groups, as a necessary step to treat historical imbalances as long as they affected societal balance. It is not aims to create privileges, but rather a corrective justice which opens the way to the construction of a society based on equality and mutual respect.
Because cultural and media discourse plays a major role in the formation of collective consciousness, the Charter adopts clear mechanisms to fight against the discourse of hatred and class transcendence, by adopting cultural and media legislation which improves the culture of coexistence and motivates the dialogue and the openness between various components.
The Charter also encourages a fair representation in state institutions and cultural, artistic and educational spaces, in order to ensure a balanced and complete presence which reflects the diversified reality of Sudan.
This charter, as a strategic tool, aims not only to manage diversity, but to rebuild national cohesion on the basis of equity and mutual recognition, so that culture is a real lever for the unity of Sudan
