The Kuwaitian Fund for Arab Economic Development offers a new subsidy worth two million dollars in Sudan

Kuwait’s state ambassador to Sudan, Dr. Fahd Al -Dhafiri, announced that his country had provided a new subsidy worth two million dollars, signed by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development in cooperation with the United Nations program, to support the project to improve access to the drinking water infrastructure. Half-million one million disadvantaged people and hosts in Sudan.

Ambassador Al -Dhafiri explained that this aid intervenes in the implementation of the directives of his Highness the emir of the state of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishaal al -Ahmad al -jaber al -Sabah, that God protects and preserves him, as an expression of the solidarity of the Kuwaitus with the two people with their brothers in Sudan, and to improve who report the two people.

He pointed out that Kuwait presented since the start of war in Sudan in April 2023, an air bridge made up of 34 planes, and another sea made up of 3 ships loaded with various rescue materials, including ambulances, drugs and others. Kuwaiti charitable organizations have also implemented rescue projects with millions of dollars to support Sudan in its event.

The ambassador said that the state of Kuwait, under the directives of his wise management, will continue to stay alongside the Sudanese people until he went beyond his crisis, expressing his thanks and his appreciation to the official and popular organs of Kuwait for his continuous support for the brothers. He also expressed his gratitude for cooperation and installations provided by relevant Sudanese institutions, hoping that this aid will help to mitigate the suffering of the recovery of Sudan affected and supported by crises.

Ambassador Al -Dhafiri underlined the big role played by the Kuwaitian fund for Arab economic development in Sudan, recalling that Sudan was the first country in the world to receive funding from the fund. He added that the fund had contributed to the implementation of main development projects in Sudan, which included the fields of electricity, energy, agriculture, industry and mining, by granting 28 loans a value of approximately a billion dollars, in addition to granting and technical aid, and its management for two subsidies from the Kowait government with a value that can grant up to 52 million dollars.

It should be noted that the drinking water grant agreement was signed during the 2025 spring meetings of the World Bank group and the International Monetary Fund in Washington. The agreement was signed by the Kuwaiti party, the director general of the agency, Walid Al -Bahr, and the United Nations Development Program, director of the Regional Bureau of Arab States, Abdullah Al -Dardari.

The project aims to improve opportunities to obtain clean and safe water for around 500,000 people, including displaced people, refugees and return, as well as 24 companies added in areas with high population density. The project will create an environmentally friendly infrastructure, while ensuring a fair distribution of water and improving the capacities of local communities to manage and maintain water services.
