In the bonds of the speed of response: the Minister of Health meets organizations working in the confrontation of cholera in the state of Khartoum

The Federal Ministry of Health underlined the continuation of coordination with organizations working in the fight against the cholera epidemic in the state of Khartoum, emphasizing the importance of supporting health interventions, to follow reports to fill gaps and improve the response to limit the spread of the disease, all with the need to quickly fulfill obligations and accelerate the intervention steps.

This came during the coordination meeting of the partners of the health regime, which the minister called (the mission meeting to accelerate and coordinate the response)

The meeting took place today, led by the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, in the presence of the Director of the General Administration of Emergency and Federal Epidemiology, Dr. Montaser Muhammad Othman.

The Minister of Health underlined during the meeting that the main objective is to improve cooperation between the Ministry of Health and international organizations to contain cholera, and reduce the number of injuries and deaths, noting the need to intensify environmental sanitation campaigns and to increase coordination with state health authorities. He also underlined the importance of the engagement of international organizations towards their promises, to ensure the continuous supply of the necessary health services.

In this context, the Minister called on donors to double their support for the health sector, due to the current challenges in which Sudan faces, stressing that the rapid response and effective interventions are necessary to reduce the spread of the disease.

For his part, the director general of the health sector in the state of Khartoum, d. Rahman Muhammad Al -Amin has won over the ministry’s commitment to continue efforts to combat cholera and expand the scope of the response, noting the urgent need to increase health interventions in the localities of Omdurman, Karri and Umm Bada, and to call international partners to provide the necessary support to ensure the health of citizens.
