Professor Bakri Othman Saeed participates in the United Nations meetings to discuss the establishment of an electronic education platform for less developed countries

Professor Bakri Othman Saeed, president of the International University of Sudan and president of the African University of Universities, will participate in a meeting of the expert team held at the United Nations headquarters in New York on the third and fourth June 2025.

Reunion intervenes in efforts to support education in the least developed countries, because it examines the possibility of establishing an electronic university or an international educational platform which contributes to the promotion of distance education and open learning in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) at the level of less developed countries and higher studies, within the framework of the implementation of the Doha program in favor of less developed countries.

The meeting addresses several problems which include: the limitation of existing initiatives, the exploration of new methods and methods, the identification of the necessary resources and the sources of sustainable financing, as well as to ensure equitable access to the poorest and the least wealthy groups and the realization of the gender balance.

Reunion also deals with the possibility of establishing a virtual network which links higher education establishments inside and outside the least developed countries, by supporting the design of programs and courses, by expanding and maintaining education, in addition to facilitating international accreditation and recognition of educational qualifications.

Reunion recommendations will be submitted in a special report to the United Nations General Assembly during its seventy-eighth session.
