Waste and flames of danger: a warning to the inhabitants of Khartoum and Al -jazeera – something for the homeland

With the gradual return of the Al-Salih districts and all the newly released areas of Khartoum and Al-Jazeera, a dangerous challenge threatens the integrity of the population: burning outdoor waste. This act may seem an easy solution to get rid of the rubble and the remains of daily life, but in reality, it hides serious dangers behind, in particular in the light of the existence of the heritage of the war of unploded ammunition and the remains of dispersed military equipment.
Waste burns in residential neighborhoods is not limited to environmental pollution resulting from the emission of toxic gas and microcredit, which cause respiratory diseases, cancer and other serious health problems. In these areas, the risks are considerably due to the possibility of hot ammunition which have not yet exploded, or to the remains of military equipment which may contain explosive or ignition materials. Any spark caused by the combustion of waste can convert a simple discharge of waste into a real disaster, threatening lives and goods.
The inhabitants of Khartoum and the island lived the scourge of war, and they saw their own eyes the extent of the destruction they have left. While life comes back to normal, we must be more aware and worry about avoiding all the practices that could bring us back to the circle of danger. The precarious elimination of waste is one of those practices which must be aware and conscious.
The waste initiative highlights the importance of an integrated approach to solid waste management. Solutions are present and effective, and must support the creation of integrated waste collection systems, in particular the improvement of waste collection and the reduction of their spread in the streets or random discharges subject to combustion. This not only reduces environmental and health risks, but also contributes to the involvement of informal waste in the official sector, offering them decent employment opportunities.
Improving the administration of waste burials also plays a decisive role in reducing the occurrence of spontaneous fires. The properly managed burials reduce the accumulation of flammable materials, which limits the risk of fire which can extend to residential areas.
But the most important thing of everyone is the role that the awareness of society plays. Efforts should be combined to implement intense awareness campaigns that educate the public on the risk of external waste and encourage the prevention of soil waste. Everyone in society is responsible for protecting themselves, their family and neighbors from these dangerous practices.
O People of good and all released areas do not burn waste. It is an invitation to save lives and maintain remaining safety and stability. We all cooperate for a safe and healthy environment and a future of war ghosts.
