Shocking figures for drug use in the state of the Red Sea … and the governor calls on civil society organizations to increase awareness of the dangers of dependence

The Director of Narcotics Control: The high use rate in young people and the control of abuse cases among students daily.
During the last period, the state of the Red Sea experienced a worrying increase in drug addiction rates, especially among young people, and gaps at the age of sixteen, as well as a significant increase in cases of violence of women. The security services have also intensified their campaigns, as several medication shipments have been seized and many reports have been opened against defendants, including traders and users, at a time when security services led strong strikes to promotion agencies, which required the warnings of a certain number of specialists in the exacerbation of control efforts on the phenomenon.
The Governor of the State of the Red Sea, Lieutenant-General Mustafa Mohamed Nour, praised the efforts of the general administration of drug control in the control of expeditions during the last period, appreciating the growing role played by the security services to protect society.
The Governor Explained, During His Speech at the Celebration of the International Day for Narcotics Control, Which was organized in the expert hall at the Red Sea University, and in the presence of the Commander of the State’s Military Region, Lieutenant -General, Mahjoub Bushra, Director of the State Police, Taha, and the Director of Intelligence, Major General Atef, and Abdel -Mahmoud Mubarak Ismail, Head of the Supreme Supreme Committee for Narcotics Control, that these major crises are an important achievement, but there is an urgent need to integrate societal efforts, civil society organizations, clubs, sheikhs, baptism and young people, and reduce the spread of this scourge.
For his part, Colonel Adam Mohamed Saleh, the decision of the Supreme Committee, presented a detailed report on the current situation, in which he indicated that last year, he witnessed the registration of 1534 reports, while 575 new reports have been opened so far in 2025, as well as cases of almost daily abuse. He also revealed the involvement of certain employees of the regular forces in the introduction and promotion of drugs, taking advantage of the country’s current conditions.
Saleh stressed that the celebration includes awareness -raising awareness activities for two weeks, which include dramatic offers and awareness -raising conferences at the University of the Red Sea.
The director of the police of the State of the Red Sea confirmed that the police intensified their preventive campaigns to fight against the phenomenon, by attacking the deals of the merchants and by carrying out specific operations, noting that the statistics reported by the Committee are an alarm which requires urgent intervention.
In the same context, Abdel -Mahmoud Mubarak Ismail, president of the upper committee for the control of narcotics, appreciated recent regular efforts, stressing the importance of societal coordination and awareness to face this increasing phenomenon.
