In the workshop of artificial intelligence and scientific research: the higher education agent recognizes the cessation of research funding due to the war and the director of the University of the Red Sea calls for the benefit of artificial intelligence in the development of scientific research and publishing
The under-secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Mohamed Hassan Dahab, recognized the existence of major challenges that scientific research is confronted in universities and research centers, noting that the financing of these centers has stopped due to war in the country.
He explained that the war launched by armed militias caused serious damage to scientific research operations and that the question of funding is one of the most important obstacles that have led to poor research production in a number of universities and centers.
This came during its address to the workshop “Use artificial intelligence in scientific research: fifth generation universities and its impact on scientific research”, which began today at the University of the Red Sea on Saturday in Port Sudan, in the presence of the secretary general of Arabic scientific research councils, the participation of university professors and researchers.
The ministry’s under-secretary called for researchers and university professors to communicate with the Arab Federation to benefit from the opportunities available in the field of scientific research, stressing the importance of the workshop to highlight the role of artificial intelligence in the development of scientific research, and the need to use them in the rebirth of the country, noting that developed countries have reached their achievements through scientific research.
He added that the ministry began serious steps in this direction, with the availability of capacities, highlighting the signing of a certain number of agreements with the Arab Union, in the context of the strengthening of relations and the development of scientific research areas.
For its part, Dr. Abdul Majeed Bin Amara, secretary-general of the Arab Union of Scientific Research Councils, said that the workshop holding is an indication of the return of life and stability to Sudan, and the restoration of its institutions of the effects of war. He praised the constancy of Sudanese universities during the war period, and their continuous disposition of education and scientific research despite the challenges, considering this as a form of resistance.
He called on Sudanese universities to take advantage of the available opportunities, stressing that Sudan has an excellent way for the Union, because it contributed to its rescue of the collapse during the war in Iraq in the 1990s. He added that it was honored to be one of the first representatives of organizations to have participated in forums in Sudan since the start of the war, stressing that scientific research which testify to tensions or wars, and which the Arab Union takes care of all the expenses of Sudanese researchers.
In turn, the director of the University of the Red Sea, Professor Abdel Qader Badawi, underlined the importance of the workshop and scientific articles presented during the latter, noting that he is held in cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education, the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils and the University of the Red Sea.
Badawi highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence and the developments that accompany it in the fields of scientific research, given the workshop a founding station to play an active and constructive role in the service of science and knowledge. He underlined the need to use artificial intelligence in the development of scientific research and publication, and benefiting in the modernization of programs and the development of universities, stressing that university education should not remain traditional, but must rather monitor the rhythm of scientific developments and improve research and link to local societies.
He added that the results of the workshop will receive any attention and follow from the university, to ensure the implementation of its recommendations.
It should be noted that the workshop witnessed the presentation of two working documents – the first entitled “Artificial Intelligence in scientific research” presented by Professor Ahmed Hassan Fahl, and the second entitled * “Fifth generation universities: opportunities, business and ambition” * presented by the engine.
