The Development Health Program and the Federal Ministry of Health, as well as the general administration of prisons and reforms, inaugurating a medical investigation program to detect tuberculosis, AIDS and the viral liver

Director of the Development Health Program: The program worked despite difficult humanitarian conditions and the aggravation challenges of Sudan.

The Development Health Program, in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Health (National Program to Fight Tuberculosis, the National AIDS Program), the United Nations Development Fund, the World Health Organization, the General Administration of Prisons and Reform, has launched an investigation campaign to detect tuberculosal diseases, the SIDS and the viral liver (B and C), for prison guests.

The campaign was launched today from the federal prison at the Sudan port, to include all the guests of the state of the Red Sea and will last five days. Active examination within prisons is a very important preventive step, to reduce the spread of these diseases, provide appropriate health care and protect society, according to the highest quality and human rights standards.

The director of the development health program Hanadi Hussein said that the program works despite the difficult humanitarian conditions that Sudan is going through disputes, the movement and deterioration of health infrastructure, noting the growing role of civil society organizations. She explained that the program is working in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Disease Control, National Tuberculosis and AIDS programs, as well as the United Nations Development Fund and the World Health Organization, and the General Administration of Prisons, with the aim of coordinating efforts and filling healthy differences.

She added that the program implements several activities, emphasizing fragile societies, including mining areas, displaced and refugee camps, in particular prisoners in prison, because they are part of the groups that need sustainable health support, by diagnosis, examination and treatment. She continued that there is an ambitious plan to cover all the prisons of Sudan, and the federal prison was chosen in the state of the Red Sea as a starting point because of the previous experiences successful in December 2024.

She pointed out that the closed and overcrowded penitentiary environment is a fertile terrain for the spread of infectious diseases between guests and workers, and active examination is a major tool for early detection, even in the absence of symptoms, to ensure a sane environment inside the prisons and help protect society when the prisoners reintegrate after the end of the punishment. The adoption of the active examination approach reflects the commitment of reform institutions towards the principles of public health, prevention and respect for human rights.

In the same context, the representative of the World Health Organization at the Sudan office, Dr. Sarah is the secret of the seal, the inauguration of the exam campaign has just achieved complete development objectives, highlighting the importance of early detection and providing the medical interventions necessary to treat infected cases. She underlined that the results will be subject to a periodic journal to effectively improve the mechanism of labor and direct resources, to achieve prisons free from infectious diseases, whose inclinations benefit from their right of prevention and integrated health care, in order to improve public health inside and outside reform institutions.

In the same context, the director of prisons of the State of the Red Sea, Major-General Samir Ibrahim, said that the complete management of organizations wishing to implement health awareness programs to customers, highlighting their welcome to the community initiatives of government agencies and organizations.
