The return of the paper press to Khartoum – the face of the truth – ✍️ Ibrahim Shaqlawi

Permanent attempts are made to bring the state back to the capital, Khartoum, more than two years after the war, where the need for paper journalism has become a necessity to complete the appearance of civil and political life, which strives not to be less than the effort of security and administration. The press on paper, as well known in the experiences of states, is not only a means of press flags, but one of the signs of the existence of the state in itself, and a tool to allow consciousness and stabilize stability.

Today, with the formation of the “Supreme National Committee for the preparation of the Khartoum State” led by General Ibrahim Jaber, which is authorized by large powers which include the emptying of the capital of military demonstrations and the organization of its safety and service conditions, is a real opportunity to restore civil life. But this project, with all its ambition and its efforts, will not be completed without the restoration of one of the most important tools of consciousness and enlightenment: Paper Press.

Before the war, Khartoum was published daily at least 18 newspapers covering the political, social and sporting scene, in a clear indication of the vitality of public life, of several voices and platforms of opinion. After erupting the war, this sector collapsed: the impression stopped, the announcements were absent, the subscriptions evaporated and the capacity of the press institutions to cover even the simplest expenses. Like the sector, like other sectors, was affected by the destruction of infrastructure, due to the attacks of shocked rapid support militia.

However, the action should not be left to the state, but we must move forward, the ball in the publishers’ stadium and journalists, they are mainly concerned about their national responsibility in this historic tour. Printing newspapers, even with limited capacities, represent a daring step towards sending confidence in the existence of the State and to document the moment of real transformation in Sudan.

Consequently, the challenge of others will remain on the resumption of the publication of the first paper newspaper in Khartoum after the war, which progresses, the initiative will have written a new line in the file of its professional history and its national history.

As for the saying that some people circulate that “the whole world is transformed into electronic journalism”, it is an unrealistic proposal in the current Sudanese context. The advanced world which has moved to digital publishing has a solid financial infrastructure, a payment culture for content and effective advertising networks. In Sudan, there is no contributions system, no advertising and no group payment mechanisms. Digital transformation is not a change such as improvised or free, but rather an enormous institution project that has not yet started.

The Lebanese experience indicates that the return of the press on paper after the civil war “1975-1990” was a clear symbol of the Lebanese state to restore the public domain and its institutions, because it represented the regularity of the publication of newspapers such as Al -Nahar and the ambassador after the taive agreement is a sign of civil life in the capital. World “.

In this context, the need for an initiative of the National Press Council and publications to support the return of the paper press, by facilitating technical and organizational procedures, and by taking up the challenges linked to financing and distribution and by protecting the journalistic work press. It is also expected from the six largest Sudanese newspapers, for example: the seizure, the current current, the Sudanese, the room, the political microscope and the colors to increase with its national responsibility, and initiate the resumption of regular printing, as a fundamental manifestation of the return of the state to the capital.

Khartoum is today at the time of a new construction, and the state needs living symbols that reassure people in the heart that the fatherland has not been disappeared and that its institutions are again resurrected. Paper journalism is not a luxury, but one of the aspects of this resurrection.

Let it be an explicit invitation from the #Face of the truth that we are in the email of the press and publications coucil, publishers and journalists to move, not tomorrow, to take their natural place in the battle to restore the capital, through a national initiative to re -print subdane newspapers in its Khartoum, as it was before the war, as a conscious investment in restoring security, Peace and the Future of the Country and Supporting the National Project that Opinion managers rise before the other actors.

You are fine and well.
