The general authority of geological research evolves regularly towards digital transformation

As part of his efforts to modernize and keeping the pace of technology and in a press statement at the authority’s media office, he said
The director of the general authority of geological research in Sudan, the geology of Ahmed Haroun Al -Tom, that the authority began to implement a complete reconstruction and digital transformation plan, after the generalized damage caused by the war, including the loss of assets and technical information which is not digitally not preserved.
Al -Tom added that the authority (which is the technical branch of the Ministry of Minerals) strives to restore its infrastructure and improve its role in the supply of precise geological information, noting that an inventory committee led by Dr Ahmed Mudawi has been able to restore more than 90% of workers’ files, and operates to document equipment loss in equipment and headquarters.
He explained that the digital transformation project has become an absolute priority with the authority, with the aim of establishing a unified electronic portal for the preservation and circulation of geological and administrative data, in a manner which guarantees rapid access to it by investors and partners in the mining sector, adding that the project is implemented in complete coordination with the Ministry of Minerals.
He stressed that the Authority is currently implementing strategic productive projects in a certain number of states, including the Salt project in the state of the Red Sea, the marble project in Kassala, and projects to extract malesese, Maica and Al -Malik in the Nile, stressing that industrial minerals represent a national priority to support the efforts of reconstruction and economic development.
Al -Tom stressed that the authority has developed an ambitious training plan to qualify technical and administrative executives, which are implemented in stages during the current year, within the framework of the efforts of the authority to restore its leadership role in the support of land sciences and the national economy service.
He concluded by saying that the authority seeks to restore its position of national and international scientific reference in the fields of geological research, emphasizing the local and international interest in its role, in particular in the light of the rapid transformations observed by the mineral sector in Sudan.
