The Ministry of Health receives a grant from the European Union worth twenty million euros covering six states

The Federal Ministry of Health has revealed the launch of the Port Sudan Teaching Hospital Maintenance Project, with the support of the European Union and the supervision of the World Health Organization, at a cost of 460,000 dollars, as the Federal Minister of Health and the representative of the World Health Organization in Sudan today inaugurated the receipt of the grant provided by the European Union and the World Bank worth twenty million euros, including intensive care equipment for newborns, medical equipment and ten medical incinerators to dispose and burn medical waste.

The relevant Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Muhammad Ibrahim, during the inauguration of the grant provided by the European Union through the World Health Organization office in Sudan, today before the medical supplies building in Port Sudan. The grant provided by the European Union is allocated to six states. first stage and then the rest of the States, which are intensive care devices to treat newborns and the rehabilitation of these rooms, emphasizing that part of the project will be allocated to the maintenance of the University Hospital of Port- Sudan, in addition to this one. installing two incinerators to burn medical waste in the state. He added that agreements with the World Bank, the European Union and the World Organization began very early, before the outbreak of war, to implement these projects and support the health system.

Haitham pointed out that the ministry has projects to rehabilitate intensive care services in public hospitals, with funding from the World Bank, which will see the light of day soon, stressing that the needs of the health system are great.

Haitham praised the great role of the World Health Organization and the support provided by the European Union, particularly in the fight against epidemics, noting that the support of the European Union is greatly appreciated and will help cover a certain number of axes, and that they, like Zawa, aspire to more support, and he added within the framework of the vast partnership program with the organization World Health Organization will support and strengthen the health system .

For his part, the representative of the World Health Organization, Dr. Shibli Sahbani, said that the grant provided by the European Union is allocated to six states, including Red Sea, Nile, East Darfur, North, Blue Nile and Khartoum, under the program supported by the European Union, and support will be supplemented for the rest of the states, noting that the support includes the installation of ten medical incinerators in hospitals to burn waste medical facilities, two of which will be installed in the country. Port Sudan City and the rest will be distributed to other states, along with medical supplies and equipment for intensive care rooms in those states.

In the same context, the Director General of the Ministry of Health of the Red Sea State, Dr. Ahlam, according to Al-Rasoul, said that the state's hospitals suffer from a serious shortage of devices and medical equipment, in addition to frequent visits to hospitals. She welcomed the support provided by the European Union, particularly in the fight against infection and the installation of two incinerators. burn medical waste.
