The Ministries of Finance and Minerals move to control mining companies and continue the end before the end of the year

The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning issued, d. Gabriel Ibrahim, strict directives to activate the application of laws regulating the work of mining companies, in a movement aimed at controlling financial performance and improving transparency in the sector which is one of the pillars of the Sudanese economy.

During a joint meeting held today at the Khartoum Minister’s complex, the Minister of Minerals, Nour Al -Daimah, included Taha, and representatives of the two ministries, that the government is determined to perceive the financial arrears due to companies, including concession companies and mining waste companies, before the end of this year.

He also pointed out that all procedures related to the postponement or payment of financial obligations for companies will not take place only with the prior approval of the Ministry of Finance, stressing that control of the performance of the mining sector has become an absolute priority at the current stage, as well as the examination of the related laws and the relevant legislation.

For his part, the Minister of Minerals, Nour Al -Daim, announced a complete consensus with the Ministry of Finance in the tightening of technical and administrative coordination, noting the importance of going out with a unified vision which contributes to improving performance and achieving public interest.

The meeting examined a detailed report on the performance of the mining sector, dealing with the most important challenges that hinder its development and discussed the practical means of taking up it.

The under-secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Abdullah Ibrahim, called for a complete examination of business debt by the general reference office, while emphasizing the need to review concession agreements, employment contracts and exemptions, and to monitor accounting and financial performance with accuracy of the exploration phase to production.

The meeting ended by agreeing to form a joint technical committee between the two ministries, which follows the financial and technical performance of companies and to submit periodic reports to ensure the commitment to prescribed controls.
