Al -fasher is dying ..! – The face of the truth – ✍️ Ibrahim Shaqlawi

The city of El Fasher lives under a suffocating seat imposed by the rapid support militia for more than a year, in the light of the complete collapse of services, and the shadows of famine which abandon its residents, who have more than hundreds of thousands. Despite this humanitarian disaster, the United Nations Security Council has not taken practical measures that rise to the size of the tragedy.
In June 2024, the Council adopted its decision No. 2736, which required the immediate suspension of the siege, reduced climbing in al-Fasher and its environment, ensuring the protection of civilians and facilitating the arrival of humanitarian aid. However, this decision remained ink on paper, without executive tools, while the city’s living conditions deteriorate at an accelerated pace.
The United Nations Expert concerning the status of human rights in Sudan, Radwan Nuweir, confirmed yesterday that his work priorities are concentrated in four basic files: protecting civilians, facilitating the arrival of aid, responsibility and non-impression, in addition to ensuring the freedom to work on humanitarian organizations and human rights. During a limited meeting with journalists, he expressed his concern about continuous deterioration, stressing the absence of concrete developments on the ground.
On the other hand, mixed statements have been published by the government. During a press conference in the city of Port Sudan in July 2025, the Sudanese government announced that its human vision is based on the principle of providing support for everyone without religious, ethnic or regional discrimination. He also confirmed the opening of crossings, paths and airports, including points of sale outside their control – such as the ADRI cross -border passage with Chad – to receive help, and its opening was extended for an additional three months. This came in conjunction with an official announcement to accept a humanitarian truce in El Fasher, in response to a United Nations proposal to guarantee access to assistance to the besieged population.
For his part, Lieutenant -Général Al -Sadiq Ismail, advisor to the Sovereignty Council for Humanitarian Affairs, explained that the States of Darfur du Nord and Kordofan in the South are among the most affected and needy areas, calling on organizations to intensify their efforts after having opened the way. The government has also announced the training of a national emergency committee to support the humanitarian aid committee.
As for Commissioner Salwa Adam, it was briefly revealed the catastrophic recent displacement waves, noting that around 1.3 million people escaped combat zones, including more than half a million the Zamzam camp in Al-Fasher, and tens of thousands of Abu Shuk and long in Chadian territories.
Despite these official steps, the response to the ground remains below the required level. No effective military movement has been recorded to break the headquarters or secure the supply lines to El Fasher. And the Sudanese army, despite the human and logistical capacities, has not yet launched any operation towards the city … Knowing that thousands of fighters of the “peace movements” of the joint forces are present in Khartoum, according to a report by Al -Arabiya. Observers believe that the seat could be quickly dismantled, if these forces were preparing for the combat front moved, as happened in the previous battles in which they proved their ability to dismantle the militia concentrations.
What deepens the tragedy is that Al-Fasher is on the verge of real famine. According to the United Nations, on July 8, 2025, 38% of children under the age of five in the city suffer from severe malnutrition, while 11% of them suffer from critical cases that threaten their lives. The Governor of Darfur du Nord, Al -Hufiz Bakhit, described the situation as “unbearable”, explaining that the population depends on “the amplifiers” – the remains of peanuts generally dedicated to animal feed – as a major food, in the absence of complete goods, because the price of a quarter of the millet has exceeded the half -million sudden books.
In a remarkable development, Arko Minawi, the governor of the Darfur province, announced his desire to open up to the “Samoud” alliance, and even with the rapid support militia if it shows a positive commitment, saying: “Everyone is Sudanese and we must evolve towards peace.” It is a speech that reflects tactical elasticity and perhaps in order to build new understanding to reduce tensions on the ground, despite the serious violations that the militia always commits to El Fasher, according to local and international documented relationships.
Consequently, the international community, led by the Security Council, must assume its responsibility for converting its decisions into effective executive tools, including high pressure on the rapid support militia, activation of the rapid air projection mechanisms of aid and the imposition of the humanitarian cease-fire approved by the Sudanese government.
The Sudanese government should also assume its complete responsibilities, by moving its forces to Al-Fasher, by securing the roads and the airport and by imposing a new reality on the ground which ends the headquarters.
What is happening at El-Fasher is not only a humanitarian crisis, but a real test of the ability of the Sudanese state to protect its citizens and a test of the gravity of the international community by standing alongside civilians in conflict areas.
According to what we see from the face of truth, the tragedy has exceeded the limits of the possibility, and silence has become a form of collusion. And if real measures are not taken in the coming days, Fasher can fall not only under the siege, but in the memory of the world as a black point on the front of humanity.
You are fine and well.
