Sudan strengthens regional cooperation in mining

A delegation from the Sudanese Ministry of Minerals, a representative of the General Authority for Geological Research and the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, participated in the periodic meetings of the organization of the Great Lakes, which was held this week in the city of Ugandan of Antebi.
The head of the delegation, the geologist, the advisor Omar Othman, said that Sudan had maintained his regular participation in the organizational meetings, highlighting Khartoum’s commitment to strengthen technical and mining cooperation with the Member States.
The discussions focused on developing a new strategy to deal with the gold sector, emphasizing the organization of traditional and small mining, in addition to examining the implementation of previous protocols, and preparing for an extended ministerial meeting scheduled for Kinshasa at the end of this month.
The organization of the Great Lakes includes 12 countries, including Sudan, and works to improve regional cooperation in the fields of security, natural resources and economic development.
