Sudanese education chaos in Cairo: a call to unify the class – something for the fatherland – ✍️ Mr. Salah Gharibi

Sudanese students in Egypt meet again, in the midst of organizational chaos that affect their educational future. The recent declaration of friendship, which confirms that no party is authorized to start registration for the new academic year, reveals a deeper crisis linked to decentralization and chaos which ravage the educational process of Sudanese society in Cairo. This declaration is not only an administrative clarification. It is rather a warning bell which calls us to stop and to think about how to manage our educational affairs in the diaspora, and the need to work to unify efforts under a single official umbrella which guarantees the rights of students and equal opportunities for all.
The problem with parents and students are not new; I had already written on this subject, with the growing number of Sudanese schools and educational centers in Egypt, unorganized practices and individual behavior aimed at reaching special gains at the expense of public interest. The promotion of the start of the registration before the official date, and the adoption of “academic courses”, called SO, reflects the absence of the common vision and the low coordination between these parties. These practices not only affect the reputation of schools, but also to create a state of confusion and anxiety for students and their families, and make them vulnerable to material and moral exploitation.
When the friendship school speaks of “very limited” approval to record the students of the CRS, it highlights the need to respect official procedures and not to exceed powers. This procedure, which aims to protect the rights of students benefiting from financial subsidies, must be a model to manage all other educational problems. No school or center can behave alone without obtaining prior authorization and submit an official list for the students concerned. Any violation of these two conditions is an explicit violation of instructions and requires responsibility. This is what must really happen to this chaos.
However, responsibility alone is not enough. We need radical solutions that prevent recurrence of this crisis in the future. What the declaration mentioned on the intention to set a unified date for the start of the registration for the academic year 2025-2026, under the supervision of the cultural consultant at the embassy, is a step in the right direction. The unification of the academic calendar is not only an administrative decision, but rather the cornerstone of the construction of an integrated and organized education system. When all schools work under one umbrella, we can ensure the quality of education, unify the programs and avoid the great variation in levels between the different schools.
The need for this monotheism is not limited to the administrative side, but also extends to the moral and social side. Sudanese society in Egypt is faced with major challenges, and education is one of the most important pillars of the survival and development of this society. Schools and educational centers should be houses for knowledge and security, not antality for competition or the most happy. The managers of these institutions must remember that their message is higher than material profit. This is the message of the construction of a new generation capable of carrying the banner of the future.
I invite all the Sudanese schools and centers to respond to the call of the School of Friendship and to respect the instructions presented to them. The chaos that we see today in the field of education does not serve anyone, but rather affects everyone, starting with students and ending with society as a whole. We must put the student’s interest above all the considerations and work together, in a team, to ensure a safe and stable educational future for our children in the diaspora.
We need a new culture in the management of our business, depending on cooperation, coordination and transparency. There must be an open dialogue between all the parties concerned, from school administrations to parents and cultural consultants, to define a clear framework which guarantees the rights of all and defines the responsibilities of each party. The declaration of the Friendship School is an opportunity to reorganize our papers and to start again, in a more organized and effective way. Take this opportunity to build a unified education system, protect our children from today’s chaos and guarantee them a better future.
