The World Food Program welcomes the contribution of the Republic of Korea to save lives in Sudan
In the context of its efforts to provide humanitarian aid to the needy in Sudan, the United Nations Global Program for the United Nations receives a contribution of $ 7 million from the Republic of Korea to help provide critical food and nutritional assistance to vulnerable societies in certain parts of Sudan

This contribution is part of the project aimed at responding to emergency aid to families affected by the joint scope between the World Food Program and the Republic of Korea, and this contribution will support the efforts of the program to extend the scope of food and nutritional support to families in areas that are difficult to reach, including the states of Darfour, Kordofan and Khartoum.
For his part, the Qatari director and the representative of the World Food Program in Sudan said that the situation in Sudan was embarrassed, adding that this contribution came at the appropriate time of the Republic of Korea Ali to save lives in the difficult regions of Sudan.
And Laurent said that they were very grateful to the Government of the Republic of Korea and its inhabitants for all this funding of $ 7 million and the wavelength will provide cash transfers from the global food program to around 90,000 people for two months, which guarantees the continuous capacity of families in conflict zones to buy food despite the restrictions. This assistance will contribute to feeding the economy by pumping money on local markets, adding that the program will also use this contribution to provide food to support around 30,000 children with malnutrition, pregnant women or breastfeeding for women for three months.
Meanwhile, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Sudan, Naming, Nag Hwan, indicated that Korea as a responsible donor is committed to facing world humanitarian crises, and this year, Korea is strengthening its partnership with the main international organizations, in particular in the fields with urgent needs.
Noming has added, we are proud to continue our cooperation with the World Food Program to support Sudan. The program has vast experience in the field of food aid and we hope that these $ 7 million will help to mitigate the suffering of the Sudanese people affected by the current conflict, and addition is the largest contribution of the Republic of Korea to the World Food Program in Sudan in recent years, which improves the existing partnership.
Since 2022, the World Food Program in Sudan has received $ 10 million from the Republic of Korea to provide emergency food aid and support the United Nations Humanitarian Air Transport Service, which is managed by the World Food Program.
A global level, the Republic of Korea is classified as among the ten largest donors in the government of the global food program, because it continues to document its support for this and the people who serve them, because around 25 million people suffer from high hunger and face around 638,000 catastrophic conditions.
In light of these conditions, the World Food Program needs $ 658 million to continue its operations over the next six months.
The effect of crises has already appeared on the ground, because only the program does not have enough resources to help people with more serious hunger levels.
The United Nations Global Food Program is the largest humanitarian organization in the world to save people from tourism states and provide humanitarian aid to open a way to peace, stability and prosperity to people who suffer from conflicts, disasters and the effects of climate change.
