The Minister of Mineraux discusses in Cairo to improve scientific cooperation with Egypt

The Minister of Mineraux, Nour Al -Daim, Taha, accompanied by the Director General of the General Authority for Geological Research, made the advisor to Ahmed Haroun Al -Tom, an official visit to the National Institute of Astronomical and Geophysical Research in Cairo, to discuss the prospects of scientific cooperation and research between Sudan and Egypt.

The delegation was received by the head of the Taha Tawfiq Institute Rabeh and the head of the national authority for the detection of the dimension and the science of space, Islam Abu al -Majd. The two parties stressed that Sudan’s stability and scientific progress represent a basic pillar of regional security and have stressed the importance of expanding partnerships in the fields of geological and astronomical research.

At the start of the meeting, the participants held a minute of mourning for the lives of victims of landslide that the Jabal Marra region witnessed Darfur. Rabeh praised the close relations between the two countries, pointing to joint ventures such as the Sudanese network for seismology and geological risk studies.

Taha said Khartoum seeks to establish strategic partnerships with the main Egyptian institutions in the fields of research and development, adding that his country considers the science and knowledge of two main pillars to reconstruct state institutions. The Minister underlined the need to invest in the training of Sudanese executives and enable them to use the latest global technologies.

For his part, Aaron explained that cooperation between the Sudanese authority and the Egyptian institute continued despite the challenges that Sudan faces during the war, and even developed by projects to strengthen capacities and analyze the joint data and research.

The visit included a coordination meeting to discuss future projects and a visit to the African Center to reduce the effects of disasters from the Egyptian Institute, in addition to honoring a certain number of Sudanese authority employees who have completed specialized training programs in Cairo.

The two parties also discussed the proposal to establish a Sudanese-Egyptian strategic alliance which includes research and scientific institutions on both sides, in particular the general authority for geological research and SUAMIN SUAMIN of Sudan, the National Institute for Astronomical Research and the National Authority for the Detection of the Dimension and Metal Research Center of Egypt. The coalition aims to prepare a roadmap for joint projects in the fields of geophysics, geological map, remote sensing and metals exploration
