Political masks in today’s world – a national murmur – ✍️ Dr Tariq Ashary
In the world of politics, the true face is often mixed with the artificial face, where political actors carry several masks which hide their true intentions and decorate their discourse in proportion to the public or the scene. These political masks are not only a linguistic metaphor, but rather tools used to manage conflicts, obtain support or cover internal and external contradictions. The simple citizen can see in the politician a face that has brilliant promises, while behind the scenes, complex accounts linked to personal, regional or international interests are managed. Understanding and revealing these masks requires conscious reading of the political discourse and the behavior of the actors, far from the fascination for slogans or undergoing media polishing. Consequently, political analysis becomes a means of revealing the truth beyond the mask and the realization of the gap between what is said and what is really practiced on the ground.
At a time when interests are linked and international relations are complicated, politics has become a great theater in which actors carry several masks to hide their real intentions. Political discourse is no longer a clear mirror that reflects the reality of positions. On the contrary, a mixture of sparkling slogans and camouflage tactics which serve hidden objectives.
Many politicians raise (the banner of patriotism) in their speeches, but in reality, they have put their personal or factional interests on the interest of the country. This mask gives them popular legitimacy, while the door opens them to conclude agreements that people know nothing.
(Democracy) has become one of the most popular masks because politicians speak of freedom and justice, but their daily practices can expose an authoritarian tendency or a tendency to exclude adversaries. It is a formal democracy which is addressed to the outside that the interior.
Under (the slogan of humanity) and solidarity, some great powers interfere in the affairs of other countries, claiming to protect peoples, while the real objective is to control wealth or strategic sites. Humanity is transformed here into a tool of political law.
(The slogan of peace) is raised in conferences and dialogues, but the arms agreements do not stop, and the wars are managed by proxy. Peace here is only an interface, but reality is the continuation of the conflict to guarantee influence and interest.
(Development projects) are often used as economic domination. It apparently improves the lives of peoples, and within states, states are linked to stressful debts or unequal agreements that perpetuate dependence.
Today’s world is governed by the game of political masks that try to decorate the harsh reality and hide real interests. Consequently, the awareness of the people and their ability to read beyond the slogans represent the strongest weapon to reveal the lie and distinguish between what is said and what is really practiced. The conscious nation is not deceived by masks, but always looking for the truth behind.
