Thursday is a public holiday to mark the seventieth anniversary of Sudan’s independence.

The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers announced that the day after tomorrow, Thursday, January 1, 2026, will be a public holiday throughout Sudan, marking the seventieth anniversary of the glorious Declaration of Independence.
The General Secretariat expressed its hope that this cherished national occasion will return and that Sudan will enjoy peace, security and stability.
