Egyptian Red Crescent humanitarian aid convoy arrives at Ashkit crossing

As part of a new humanitarian step that reflects the depth of fraternal relations, a humanitarian aid convoy arrived today at the Ashkit border post in the locality of Wadi Halfa, provided by the Egyptian Red Crescent to the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, carrying around 70 tons of food, shelter materials, medical consumables and personal hygiene kits.

The convoy was received by the Egyptian Consul in Wadi Halfa, Ambassador Bassem Taman, accompanied by a team from the General Secretariat of the Sudanese Red Crescent and authorities of the crossing, while the Administrative Director of the Egyptian Red Crescent, Mr. Yasser Abdullah, accompanied the convoy.

The emergency representative at the General Secretariat of the Sudanese Red Crescent and supervisor of the locality of Wadi Halfa, Mr. Bushi Mahmoud, thanked the Egyptian people for their continued support, highlighting the strength of the historical relations between the two brotherly peoples.

The administrative director of the Egyptian Red Crescent explained that this convoy is the first land convoy, after three humanitarian ships were delivered through Port Sudan several months ago, noting that the convoy includes 12 trucks which traveled a distance of about two thousand kilometers, expressing joy at being in Sudan.

For his part, the Egyptian consul in Wadi Halfa stressed the willingness of the Egyptian government to continue providing humanitarian aid to the affected brothers in Sudan, praising the close cooperation between the Sudanese and Egyptian crescents in the humanitarian field.
