We lost the qualification, but gained a respectable team and we appreciate the support of the state – Zoll Net

Khartoum – Zoll Net – January 4, 2025
In a calm assessment after the outing, the President of the Sudan Football Federation, Dr. Moatasem Jaafar Sir Al-Khatm, confirmed that the end of the Falcons’ journey at the 2025 African Nations Championship after losing to the Senegalese team by three goals to one does not mean the end of the road, but rather represents a successful experience that deserves more care and attention and addressing the negatives to build a team capable of realizing its ambitions.
Jaafar explained that the elimination in the round of 16 against a major team confirms that the players did their best, emphasizing that the team took the initiative to score and defended its chances until the last moments, and left the tournament having earned everyone’s respect. He added: “Yes, we lost the qualification, but we gained a respectable team that deserves to receive all the necessary support to overcome its shortcomings and come back stronger for the happiness of Sudanese football fans.”
The Federation President commended the great effort made by the Ghanaian Technical Director Kwasi Appiah in preparing the team and presenting it in a creditable manner, stressing that the confidence in them had been strengthened and that the technical stability provided by the Federation before the start of the tournament was aimed at building a strong and cohesive team in the medium term.
Jaafar expressed satisfaction with the success achieved by the experience of recruiting Sudanese talents abroad, emphasizing that the participation of Shadi Ezz El-Din, Amer Abdullah and Mohamed Issa added a special flavor to the performance, which requires strengthening the support of the recruitment committee for players abroad to continue technical construction and increase the technical and market value of the team.
Jaafar highlighted that the team received great support and attention from the state at the highest levels, appreciating the position of Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and the continued support for the players despite the circumstances of the country, emphasizing that building a team that realizes hopes is a collective responsibility that requires concerted efforts.
The president of the federation called on the media and activists on communication platforms to treat the national team responsibly and that criticism be constructive and not targeted, stressing that the media is a genuine partner in the development of Sudanese football and that the federation is open to full cooperation for the benefit of the game.
