Gedaref and East Darfur sign double memorandum to improve agricultural sector – Zool Net

In a move that strengthens integration between the states of Sudan, Gedaref State and East Darfur State today signed a memorandum of twinning and joint cooperation in the agricultural field, both plant and animal, with the aim of achieving food security and sustainable agricultural development, and benefiting from the expertise and successful experiences between the two parties.

The signing took place in the presence of the Governor of Gedaref, Lieutenant General Mohamed Ahmed Hassan, and the Governor of East Darfur, Maulana Mohamed Adam Abdel Rahman.

The memorandum stipulated the strengthening of technical and institutional cooperation between the two states, the transfer of expertise and modern technologies and support for scientific and research integration, in addition to the transfer of Gedaref’s experience in the fields of agriculture, livestock, forestry, pasture and fodder, training of agricultural cadres, cooperation for the establishment of basic agricultural data collection systems and the expansion of sources of income in production areas.

The Gedaref Governor stressed that the twinning would advance the two states in the agricultural field, both plant and animal, by exchanging experiences, introducing modern agricultural technologies and transferring successful experiences to achieve common benefit. He expressed hope that the results of the agreement will have a positive impact on the development process in both states.

For his part, the East Darfur governor described the twinning as strategic, aiming to benefit from the great agricultural expertise enjoyed by Gedaref, particularly in the areas of agriculture, livestock, forestry and seed production, to help bridge the expected post-war gap and strengthen food security in East Darfur.
