More than 40 greenhouses destroyed in the island’s nurseries and the State undertakes to rehabilitate them

The Gezira State Government has announced its intention to move forward with the expansion and rehabilitation of the agricultural sector, while disseminating the experience of greenhouses, despite the significant damage caused to nurseries in the recent period.
The Governor of Gezira State, Mr. Al-Taher Ibrahim Al-Khair, when inaugurating the greenhouse experiment at the Palace of Hospitality in Wad Madani this morning, highlighted the importance of greenhouses in providing agricultural crops throughout the year, calling for benefiting from science, expertise and modern technologies in agricultural operations to increase production and productivity.
The governor highlighted the importance of the Madani Palace of Hospitality as an honorable destination for receiving guests of the state, directing the preparation of the palace environment and gardens to become an outlet for the people of the city.
For his part, the Minister of Finance, Economy and Manpower, Mr. Atef Muhammad Ibrahim Abu Shouk, announced his ministry’s full support for increasing production and productivity and expanding greenhouse projects as one of the sustainable solutions for the agricultural sector.
In this context, Director General of the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources, Dr. Arafa Mahmoud, revealed the destruction of more than 40 greenhouses in the state’s nurseries by the Daglo family terrorist militia, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to rehabilitate and maintain the damaged greenhouses.
She explained that the ministry entered into an agreement with the World Food Program to rehabilitate the greenhouses of the Umm Baruna nursery, as part of efforts to support agricultural recovery and ensure continuity of production in the state.
