World Health Organization awards Achievement Shield to Sudan vaccination programme

Federal Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Muhammad Ibrahim honoring the Expanded Immunization Program and awarding it the World Health Organization's Shield of Achievement, Eastern Mediterranean Region in Cairo, a source of pride and honor, and a medal adorning the chests of health sector workers in Sudan in general and the vaccination program in particular, stressing that the program has made a major contribution to stabilizing the health system in Sudan during the war period, congratulating the General Administration of Basic Health Care for this great achievement.
In a press statement, the Director of the Expanded Program on Immunization thanked Mr. Ismail Al-Adani and congratulated all the workers of the program in all the different states of Sudan, highlighting their efforts in light of the difficult circumstances the country is going through.
Al-Adani said that weakness during the emergency period was expected, but the health system in Sudan has exceeded expectations and, despite what happened, it has made great progress in providing health services in general and vaccination operations in particular, revealing the restoration of the health system, including supply operations in the states of Sudan, in addition to
Introducing new vaccines (measles and rubella for children) in many states and introducing them through routine immunization with the implementation of major campaigns in a number of states, highlighting collaboration with health partners to provide supplies and monitor the most active program, explaining that high coverage has been achieved in stable and unstable states through different strategies, demonstrating the high capacity and effectiveness of the immunization program in Sudan.
Al-Adani noted the participation of Professor Al-Zein Karrar, chairman of the Advisory Committee for Vaccination, in the meeting.
It is worth noting that during the meeting, the program presented its experience during the current crisis, which was a source of admiration and amazement for the participants in the meeting. As a result, Sudan was awarded the Shield of Success for accepting the challenge and achieving a major breakthrough that will add to the balance of the global vaccination program.
