Shendi: Psychological and social support programs in expatriate shelters
The General Administration of Youth and Sports of Shendi Locality and the Mohafisoun Initiative implemented psychological and social support programs in the shelters and hosted the Bayoumi Primary School Girls Center in Shendi 21 Square.
The youth of Motivational Initiative presented a number of talks on psychological flexibility, healing from trauma and how to fill the void and accept others.
The initiative organized a day of entertainment for the children of the reception center, which included competitions, drawing and coloring, stories, puzzles and anecdotes.
The director of the General Administration of Youth and Sports in Shindi locality, Muzamil Sayed Ahmed Abdel Rahman, said that the psychological and social support programs implemented by the administration in cooperation with the Mohafiyoun initiative have found a great response among expatriates of all ages, especially children who responded to entertainment programs and competitions. Muzamil indicated that the Minister of Youth and Sports of River State will follow up and that the participation of the Executive Director of Shindi locality, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar Al-Sheikh, in the program is what matters. strengthened the psychological and social support program, in addition to the participation of the Department of Social Affairs in Shindi, headed by Howaida Al-Jazouli.
The director of the Shendi locality youth and sports department said that the administration is keen to implement these programs within the expatriate accommodation centers in order to overcome all the effects left by the war on the souls of these expatriates of all ages and health and social conditions, and in a spirit of cooperation among them and to benefit from this experience to provide for their needs in the future of their days after the end of the war and return them home soon.
For his part, the CEO of the Mohafizoun Initiative and mental health specialist, Dr. Abdel Moneim Mohamed, said that the program aims to achieve several objectives, including cultivating hope in the souls of these expatriates residing in shelters by accepting the new situation as an act of destiny and how to coexist with each other, strengthening social relations and creating persistent relationships between expatriates after their return to their homes after the end of the war. And also creating relationships with the host community.
The Shendi Locality Youth and Sports Department and the Mohafizoon initiative have implemented a number of programs at Al-Qadisiyah School Center and Bayoumi School Center, and the programs continue in a number of centers, and a number of creative singers and painters have participated in psychological and social support programs.
