The “Conscious Mother” initiative… an urgent response to the challenges of the Sudanese family in Egypt – Something for the homeland – ✍️ Eng. Salah Ghariba

The “Aware Mother” initiative, launched by the Sudanese Media Association in Egypt, raises fundamental questions about the reality of the Sudanese family in Egypt and highlights the challenges it faces, especially in the area of child education. After witnessing unfortunate incidents such as children being lost and separated from their families, some drowning in swimming pools, and complaints from neighbors about the behavior of some children, it has become necessary to speak out on this issue and seek radical solutions.

The “Conscious Mother” initiative is more than just an awareness-raising initiative, but rather an urgent response to the emergency situation that the Sudanese family is experiencing in Egypt. The initiative aims to raise awareness by providing Sudanese mothers with the knowledge and educational skills needed to care for their children in a new and different environment, and to support family cohesion by improving communication between family members and strengthening family ties, which helps protect children. from delinquency and integrate children into society by helping them adapt and adjust. With Egyptian society, prevent behavioral problems that may arise as a result of adjustment difficulties and protect children by educating mothers about the dangers of child neglect and abuse and how to prevent them. prevent them.

There are many reasons that have led to the exacerbation of the problems of Sudanese families in Egypt. They go beyond a simple individual problem, but are rather the result of an interweaving of social, cultural and economic factors, including the culture shock of many Sudanese families. suffer from culture shock due to immigration, which affects their ability to adapt to life in Egypt, and Sudanese families face severe economic pressures, forcing many mothers to work outside the home, which reduces the time they spend with their children. Some Sudanese in Egypt may feel the lack of social support they enjoyed in their country, which affects their psychological health and increases their sense of isolation, with the difference in education systems between Sudan and Egypt, which makes some Sudanese families face difficulties in their lives. By applying appropriate educational methods in their new environment, the behavior of Sudanese children may be affected by that of their Egyptian peers, which may lead to some behavioral problems.

The closure of Sudanese schools in Egypt has had major negative effects on children, as it has led to the loss of their cultural identity. Sudanese schools help preserve children’s cultural identity, and closing them means depriving them of a large part of their culture, and for many. Sudanese children struggle to gain opportunities in the Egyptian education system, which affects their overall academic achievement, and children may suffer psychological and social problems as a result of losing their friends and familiar educational environment.

The “Conscious Mother” initiative, as Sister Dr. Siham Moussa, one of the sponsors of the initiative, mentioned to me, needs the comprehensive support of various parties, and the most important of these parties, including the Sudanese Embassy in Egypt, representing the Sudanese state, by providing financial and logistical support to the initiative, and facilitating legal procedures for Sudanese families, and needs Sudanese associations and civil society organizations in Egypt by providing training programs for mothers, organizing awareness-raising events, alongside the media by highlighting the importance of the initiative, publishing success stories of Sudanese mothers and educational institutions by opening Sudanese schools or integrating Sudanese children into Egyptian schools, and providing them with the necessary support to adapt.

The “Aware Mother” initiative represents an important step towards protecting Sudanese children in Egypt and providing them with a safe environment. It is necessary for everyone to join forces to support this initiative and achieve its goals, with recommendations including: the need to conduct field studies to determine the real needs of Sudanese families in Egypt, to develop specialized training programs for Sudanese mothers, taking into account their specificities and challenges, and to provide psychological and social support centers for Sudanese families in the Sudan House and all Sudanese associations and organizations in Egypt, and to encourage cooperation between Sudanese businessmen in Egypt and Sudanese houses, associations, organizations and institutions. in Egypt to ensure the success of the initiative.

In conclusion, the issue of the Sudanese family in Egypt deserves more attention and study, and the “Conscious Mother” initiative is the beginning of the path to a better future for Sudanese children in Egypt.
