Northern Governor Meets Delegation from Marawi Locality, Reviews Overall Situation in Locality

The Governor of the Northern State, Mr. Abdeen Awadallah, during his meeting with the Executive Director of the Marawi Mahjoub Locality, Muhammad Sayyed Ahmed, was briefed on the interventions carried out by the locality to reduce the effects of torrents and rains that recently swept through large parts of the locality.

This took place in the presence of the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Ahmed Al-Muddathir, and members of the executive board.

The executive director of the locality spoke about the tribal work carried out in Khor al-Takr and the intervention in the Kassinger region by introducing vehicles and distributing aid to people affected by the region.

He said the floods in Khor Abu Doum caused damage to farms and houses and cut off the national road.

Facing the entrance to the city of Meroe, next to the partial collapse of the Meroe Abu Doum bridge connecting the two regions on the internal road, and collapses and cracks in a number of residences south of the Meroe insurance hospital. He added by saying:

Heavy rains and accompanying floods have caused collapses and cracks in a number of houses and buildings in Karima town.
