Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health of the Red Sea and the Sudanese Doctors Association in the United States (Saba)
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Red Sea Ministry of Health and the Sudanese Physicians Association of the United States of America (SABA), which stipulated that the SABA organization would take charge of all intensive care operations at the Port Sudan University Children's Hospital for an initial period of 6 months. The signing ceremony was attended by the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ahlam Abdel Rasoul Musa, and the National Director of the Saba Organization, Dr. Faisal Ahmed Al-Nour, the Director of the Children's Hospital, Dr. Laila Al-Zubair, and the Medical Director of the Children's Hospital, Dr. Ayman Abdel Qadir Muhammad Tom, in the presence of the Red Sea Coordinator, Dr. Salem Baoum, Dr. Muhammad Beheiry, Deputy Red Sea Coordinator, Dr. Maryam Adam, Director of Child Protection in the Red Sea, and Dr. Yasser Jabra, Consultant in Pediatric Intensive Care.
The Director General of the Ministry of Health in the Red Sea State expressed her appreciation for Saba's continued support for the state's health services and its efforts in light of this crisis and for its keenness to improve coordination and activate means of communication with the ministry to serve citizens. She called for more support for the health sector.
While Dr. Salem Baoum, Project Coordinator of the Sudanese Doctors Association in the United States of America (SAPA) in Red Sea State, explained that Saba has maintained and rehabilitated the pediatric intensive care unit and the pediatric intensive care unit of the hospital is considered the first fully operational pediatric intensive care unit in Sudan in the current crisis, and Saba will initially pay the operating costs of the care for a period of 6 months (including services and supplies). Dr. Salem Baoum explained that the signed MoU will achieve direct objectives for the communities in the state.
