Seas of stagnant water… and the music of frogs – on low heat -✍️Khaled Muhammad Al-Baqir
Stagnant water is one of the most serious problems facing the city of Shendi, as it accumulates in squares and plazas, causing negative effects that are of immediate concern. When water accumulates above ground, it creates an ideal environment for insects and diseases to breed. As the city's population increases, the inability to address the stagnant water problem places an additional burden on the local government and citizens.
🟢 The unpleasant odors of this water can make daily life unbearable, which requires serious study to solve this problem before it becomes a real health crisis.
🟢 Stagnant water forms
It poses a major threat to public health as it causes the spread of infectious diseases. Mosquitoes and frogs can breed in these waters every night, and some insects are considered carriers of viruses such as dengue fever and malaria, and stagnant water can lead to cholera. In addition, stagnant water can deteriorate the health of citizens due to inadequate sanitation. Communities must therefore take effective measures to protect themselves against these risks.
🟢 Stagnant water accumulates in neighborhoods for many reasons, including poor urban planning and lack of infrastructure. Neglecting maintenance and utilities also contributes to the problem. Added to this is poor water drainage resulting from waste being dumped into the sewers and the lack of an effective system to remove excess water. These factors interact together to form a very complex problem environment.
🟢 It is necessary to expand the geography of awareness raising, use effective means of dissemination and communication with the targets, with the utmost care, choose the container and the temporal and spatial circumstances of dissemination and organize training and awareness workshops, familiarize the community with the reality and its effects, and select quality mechanisms.
🟢 It is necessary to recognize the effort of the locality and its leaders in this aspect and the presence of the head of the pyramid on all construction sites, but the question remains about the role of the engineering department in the locality and the advanced preparations for maintaining the drains and finding drainage solutions and putting them into practice. What are its strategic plans for drainage and water evacuation in the fall, and the problem of water stagnation has been going on since ancient times.
🟢 The Executive Director is present and cooperating in this matter, directing the work himself and monitoring the progress of the work. We ask the local government to find solutions to the stagnant seawater, the music of frogs and the morning concerts of mosquitoes that the citizen suffers from and disturbs his sleep.
The Department of Health exists and does its work diligently. It must choose the tools and spaces to present the content and the message.
🟢 The local community plays a crucial role in solving the problem of stagnant water. The collective efforts of citizens can make a big difference. For example, campaigns can be organized to clean up neighborhoods and raise awareness about the importance of preserving the environment. Local communities can also help authorities develop effective drainage systems.
🟢 A sense of social responsibility can motivate citizens to take positive actions in this regard.
🟢 Community awareness is a key factor in addressing stagnant water. Communities must understand the risks associated with waterlogging and potential health disasters. Citizens should be encouraged to report any abnormal accumulation of water and refrain from improper behavior such as littering.
Health management has an educational and awareness-raising role that can help reduce risks and improve population centers.
🟢 There are many ways to deal with standing water, from improving sewage systems to cleaning up affected areas. Possible solutions include government investment in better infrastructure with efficient drainage.
🟢 Contingency plans can also be developed to deal with water accumulation during periods of heavy rain. Ultimately, efforts must be made jointly, with the support of authorities and society, to ensure a healthy and sustainable environment.
