Consumer Investigations seizes soap factory at random

Major General Ihab Hassan Saleh, Director of the General Administration of Investigation for Supply and Consumer Protection, revealed the seizure of a random soap and detergent manufacturing factory in the city of Port Sudan as part of the administration's efforts to combat random factories.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Ahmed Al-Sisi, Director of the Consumer Protection Department, explained that following the information the department had about the presence of the random factory, the information was immediately processed and, after monitoring and follow-up, a field team was sent and formed and parliamentary orders were issued to inspect the factory, where (376) cartons of soap bar were found without recording a production date and (10) tons of grease of unknown origin.

Stressing that the factory is completely random and operates without the knowledge of the relevant authorities and without the approval of any government authority, and that the seized items were seized and preliminary procedures were opened under Article (47) A. The Sudanese Standards and Metrology Authority approached Madna with a specialized team to conduct the field visit and provided Madna with the technical report to complete the communication.

In a related development, the *River Nile State Trade and Supply Investigations* registered a report under Section 897 at the Central Department, Atbara under Section 31, Specifications and Standards, against one of the accused after seizing 11 cartons containing 43 gallons of expired ketchup, through on-the-ground surveillance of markets and deployment to the state’s entry and exit points.
