Federal Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim chaired a third meeting to discuss and make arrangements to meet the new health requirements for obtaining an entry visa to the Arab Republic of Egypt, which require obtaining polio vaccination for all visa applicants of all ages.
In a press statement after the meeting, the minister indicated that the most important outcome of the meeting was the confirmation that Sudan has been polio-free since 2009 AD, explaining the emergence of the mutated virus in sewage following the decline in vaccination rates during the previous period, which necessitated the establishment of vaccination campaigns organized by states, thanking the National Immunization Program administration for its efforts with partners despite the circumstances the country is going through,
The mutated virus is estimated to be not only present in Sudan, but is present in 35 countries around the world, including all of Sudan's neighboring countries and other African and Asian countries.
The minister stressed that all measures have been taken to contain the mutant virus in all these countries in accordance with the strategy approved by the World Health Organization regarding the vaccination of children under five years of age.
The Minister explained that the new health requirements related to travel procedures to Egypt are related to the international health regulations for vaccinating travelers against polio, which have been approved by the international regulations of the World Health Organization, and discussions are underway on this subject with the brothers in the Arab Republic of Egypt to adopt the most appropriate strategies and adapted to the current situation in the two countries, which facilitates travel.
On the other hand, the minister indicated that arrangements have been made to begin the work of the approved vaccination centers in the various states for the polio vaccine for travelers of all ages, in accordance with the travel requirements of patients, students and holders of official passports. participation, from the beginning of September 2024, God willing.
