Heading Sudanese delegation to China-Africa Cooperation Forum summit – Sovereignty Council Chairman visits China

Al-Burhan, Ping to hold talks to improve cooperation prospects and create strategic partnerships between the two countries

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, visited China today, leading the Sudanese delegation attending the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit, which will take place in the Chinese capital, Beijing, from the 4th to the 6th of this month, with the participation of many African leaders, heads of regional and international organizations, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres.

He was received at Port Sudan International Airport by a member of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General, Marine Engineering Advisor Ibrahim Jaber, and the Secretary General of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Muhammad Al-Ghali Ali Youssef.

The Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold a session of bilateral discussions to enhance prospects for joint cooperation and build strategic partnerships between the two countries in all fields, in addition to reviewing a number of issues of common interest. Agreements will also be signed between the two sides in various fields.

On the sidelines of his participation in the forum, the President of the Sovereignty Council will also hold meetings with a number of presidents and heads of delegations to strengthen common interests, push relations to broader horizons and create strategic partnerships between Sudan and these countries.

It is worth noting that the forum, held under the theme of “Joining hands to promote modernization and build a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future”, will discuss opportunities and areas for joint cooperation between African countries and China. The work will include four high-level meetings on state governance, industrialization and agricultural modernization, peace and security, as well as high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. The summit agenda includes the eighth conference of Chinese and African entrepreneurs, and the summit will also adopt two outcome documents, one a declaration and the other an action plan, to build a grand consensus between the two sides and chart a path to implement high-quality China-Africa cooperation in the next three years.

The Council President is accompanied during the visit by Ambassador Awad Hasban, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, and Acting Minister of Energy and Petroleum Mohieddin Naeem Muhammad Saeed.
