The Minister of Interior of the Northern State, following the needs of the affected people and coordinating humanitarian aid – Whispers of Letters – ✍️ Dr. Al-Baqir Abdul Qayyum Ali

The visit of His Excellency Major General Khalil Pasha Sairin to the Northern and Nile States was carried out in his capacity as Chairman of the National Council for Civil Defense and not in his capacity as Minister of Interior. We note that his role as representative of the National Council for Civil Defense focuses on assessing the situation in the areas affected by the emergency, coordinating efforts between the relevant ministries and managing the emergency budget was prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, and his visits aimed to assess the situation, determine the needs and transmit this information to the National Council for Civil Defense.

I have been following a number of Dongola groups and what was discussed there about the recent visit of the Minister of Interior, meant to inspect the affected places, assess the situation on the ground and console the affected people, who have paid the bill of war, who have been afflicted by natural disasters and who have been struck by successive calamities until their sense of hopelessness deepens, the state must provide them with the necessary support and comfort, enhance stability, open the door of hope for them through humanitarian assistance and initiate sustainable development.

In fact, it is observed that the elites of the city of Dongola, as the popular proverb says: “They do not like idleness or fasting in Rajab. Some of them tried to minimize the importance of the visit and its consequences, even if it was carried out.” was very positive. They also underestimated the value of the amount that was deducted due to the circumstances, which was handed over to the state and amounted to 50 billion, as support from the Ministry of Interior to meet urgent needs such as fuel and purchases. some aid, and providing food to civil protection soldiers and other volunteers stationed at flood sites, or according to the needs of the field, and the Ministry of Interior thanks for this valuable contribution in light of these zero-sum conditions that all state institutions experience.

It is important that in such cases, the National Council for Civil Protection does not pay attention to negative opinions, regardless of their source, and that it continues its work diligently to achieve the goals it has set and desired, and that it interacts effectively with all constructive comments and criticism that are poured into the Council's channels in a beneficial manner. The Council must strengthen positive interaction with society and respond to all questions and concerns that can contribute to improving the results of visits to all affected states in Sudan. It is certain that most of the information published about the visit of the Minister of Interior and the accompanying delegation was inaccurate.

Unfortunately, the programmes of this visit were cut short due to bad weather conditions, which prevented the field visits that were planned for this purpose from being carried out. We all know the importance of this visit to provide support and inspect the situation directly, and we also know the extent of the impact of this visit on the people concerned.

The Minister and the accompanying delegation left Dongola city towards the Nile, and the entire northern state hoped that the necessary support would be provided, according to reports reaching the National Civil Defense Council directly, among which 26 thousands of houses have collapsed completely or partially and more than 40,000 people are now living without shelter, which requires urgent and effective interventions, and must meet the real needs of those affected. We hope that this will contribute to achieving an immediate response. in a more effective manner and by accurately responding to the needs of those affected, God willing.

And God is behind the intention
