Dalgu executive inspects Koya region model village plan

The Executive Director of Dalqo Locality, Mr. Mudassir Sharaf al-Din, and in the presence of the local urban planning department, the Director of Baraka Unit, Mr. Muhammad Ahmed, the Head of the Sheikhs Union of Mahs Union, Brigadier General Mukhtar Faqiri and the members of the Autumn Emergency Committee of Koya District inspected the lands that were allocated as a model village for the people affected by torrents and rains in Koya District.

For his part, the executive director of Dalqo locality said that the Koya region was seriously damaged by the torrential rains.

He stressed that the reconstruction phase requires the combined efforts of all and started with a field visit to the proposed model village to shelter the people affected by torrents and rains away from the course of the torrents, and that success was achieved in choosing the appropriate village based on its geographical location and proximity to the current village.

He explained that after this comes the planning phase, which targets affected and unaffected people and takes advantage of the current village in the expansion of farmlands and orchards in the area.

At the end of his speech, he called on voluntary work organizations at home and abroad to participate and take part in the reconstruction of Koya and all affected areas of the locality.

For his part, the director of the town planning department, engineer Lutfi Abdullah, said that the aim of the visit is to plan an alternative housing plan for the residents of the Koya area affected by torrents and rains.

He explained that a preliminary study of the residential sectors will be conducted, then the site will be planned to start implementing the residential sectors and services in the near future, God willing.

For his part, the head of the Sheikhate Union of Al-Mahs said that despite the tragedy that struck the people of the region and the destruction of more than a hundred houses, they set an example of patience and steadfastness.

He expressed his thanks to the locality, the Executive Director of Dalqo Locality, Mr. Mudathir Sharaf al-Din, the Union of Sheikhs Al-Mahs, the Association of the Sons of Al-Mahs in the brotherly state of Qatar and the Qatar Red Crescent for their efforts to support those affected by the floods and rains.
