Expanding cooperation between Sudan and Rwanda in the field of higher education and scientific research

As part of the efforts of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to continue studies in Sudanese higher education institutions inside and outside the country, and to assess the academic conditions of Sudanese students studying in universities who emigrated outside Sudan, and under the leadership of Professor Mohamed Hassan Dahab, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and with the approval of the Council of Ministers, a delegation from the Ministry, headed by Professor Mohamed Ahmed Al-Nur, paid an official visit to the State of Rwanda, during which he met with Professor Taugarizo Gaspard, Rwandan Minister of Education, in the presence of Dr. Khaled Musa, Sudanese Ambassador to Rwanda, the representative of the Rwandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the directors of departments of the Rwandan Ministry of Education. The Rwandan Minister of Education welcomed the delegation, indicating that Rwanda has distinguished infrastructure for higher education and has government universities, technical universities and private universities, and that there is a continuous increase in the number of international universities there, expressing his welcome to the Sudanese students in Rwanda.

For his part, Professor Abu Al-Nour, head of the delegation, conveyed the greetings of Professor Muhammad Hassan Dahab to the Rwandan Minister of Education, offering his thanks and appreciation to his country for hosting the University of Medical Sciences and Technology and facilitating the procedures to establish a branch in Rwanda, hosting Sudanese students and facilitating their immigration procedures, indicated that the delegation came to evaluate the branch to ensure that it meets the requirements of the Sudanese Ministry of Higher Education. and the requirements of the Rwandan side. He stressed that there is an opportunity to sign a memorandum of understanding to expand cooperation between the Rwandan Ministry of Education and the Sudanese Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

For his part, Engineer Dr. Babiker Hussein Ahmed, a member of the delegation, thanked the Rwandan side for facilitating the participation of the University of Medical Sciences and Technology in the Rwanda Scientific Research and Education Network (RWEDENT) and for making available the resources of the university's education and research network, noting that the Sudanese Scientific Research and Education Network (SUDRN) and the RWEDENT network are members of the Scientific Research and Education Network in the Eastern and Southern Africa Region (AptonT Alliance) and that the cooperation between the Sudanese Research and Education Network. two networks is an extension of this relationship, and that there is an opportunity to expand the cooperation between Sudan and Roydent through the MoU to include cooperation creating a cloud to safeguard the data and systems of the institutions of both parties in order to increase the degree of their preservation and ensure that… Its loss in the event of natural disasters and wars.

Dr. Khaled Musa, the Sudanese Ambassador to Rwanda, handed over to the Rwandan Minister a copy of the MoU for consideration for signing between the two Ministers, noting that Sudanese students are constantly increasing, which prompted the Embassy to request additional facilities in granting residence permits to parents of students and groups visiting Rwanda for long and short term training purposes, especially in medical fields.

In conclusion, the Rwandan Minister of Education thanked the delegation of the Sudanese Ministry of Higher Education for launching the first stage of the Memorandum of Understanding aimed at expanding the level of cooperation between the two countries in the field of higher education and scientific research, and promised to study the aspects that took place during the meeting with the relevant authorities in Rwanda.
