North Kordofan Security Service Committed to Preparing Eye Hospital Environment
The Director of the General Security and Intelligence Service of North Kordofan State, Brigadier General Al-Awad Muhammad Al-Awad, pledged to contribute to the preparation of the general environment of the eye department of Al-Obeid University Hospital by organizing an environmental sanitation day on or before the end of the current week of September for the year (2024) in response to calls from the press.
Al-Awad said: “It is our societal duty to prepare this section for restart, due to its vital importance for the residents of Al-Obeid, as well as the general population of the state and neighboring states.
For her part, the director of El Obeid Ophthalmological Hospital, Dr. Iman, welcomed this measure of the General Intelligence Service, affirming that environmental sanitation is very important to eliminate all weeds in the courtyards of the ophthalmological department buildings.
She explained saying: After this problem comes the main problem which is a serious obstacle and a real hindrance to the functioning of the hospital, namely the availability of large capacity containers to store water. She added that it is true that the Health. Insurance Administration has started the maintenance of the water storage basin, but the need for plastic tanks remains to fully operate the plumbing system, as eye operations mainly rely on the availability of water without any interruption.
It is worth noting that the ophthalmology consultant, Khalil Ali Ibrahim, visited the hospital on Saturday, September 21 at noon, accompanied by the hospital engineer, and the necessary maintenance projects related to the resumption of work in the ophthalmology department were identified.
Dr Khalil Ibrahim said: The department is ready to work if water is available, environmental sanitation is ensured and electricity connections are ensured.
It is worth noting that the functioning of the ophthalmology department of Al-Obeid Hospital has become the subject of great interest from the governor of the state, Mr. Abdul Khaleq Abdul Latif Wada' Allah, and of greater interest from journalists and other social sectors of the state, especially after the intransigence of the administration of Makkah Ophthalmology Hospital in Al-Obeid and its delay in signing the contract for the restoration of the health insurance service in North Kordofan State.
Intelligence reports released later revealed that the eye hospital and other departments of Al-Obeid Hospital had been deliberately sabotaged.
