The Secretary General of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, Ms. Aida Al-Sayed Abdullah, said during the meetings of the General Assembly of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in Geneva that the health system in Sudan had been subjected to a violent shock. because of the war, and she confirmed that 65% of citizens cannot access health services due to the devastation that lasted between 70 and 80% of health facilities were destroyed by the war, adding that the The association has played and continues to play a central role in strengthening the country's health system in coordination with the Ministry of Health, as it has sent more than eight thousand volunteers to provide first aid, primary health care and evacuation in the field. In addition to providing basic medical assistance to hospitals with its partners inside and outside the international movement, the total number of people who received basic health services reached more than five million people who received basic health care services, psychological support and water. and sanitation services by providing safe drinking water and distributing personal hygiene materials and supporting hygiene promotion activities, as well as health promotion and disease control programs, and the provision of therapeutic services through hospitals, health centers and mobile clinics.
Aida added that the association worked through its volunteers in coordination with the Ministry of Health in different hospitals and provided support to the ministry during the wave of epidemics that hit the country by providing quantities of life-saving medicines. to isolation centers and blood donation campaigns.
