Reflections on a painful reality.. The curse of poverty (1) – On Low Fire – ✍️ Khaled Muhammad Al-Baqir
🟢 The impact of poverty on society is harsh, because it leaves traces in the lives of individuals and forms tragic scenes that are repeated daily.
🟢 The suffering of poverty is almost the general characteristic that brings together a large number of people. The stereotypical image of poverty imprints itself on minds and leaves deep effects on souls. Poverty affects all segments of society, from children wandering the streets looking for a piece of bread to mothers resisting brokenness to secure the lives of their children.
🟢 These phenomena are not just passing opportunities, but rather a story heavy with suffering that everyone is confronted with.
🟢 Poverty varies in its forms, as people are found living in difficult conditions due to a lack of financial resources, which puts them in a constant struggle for survival.
🟢 These individuals become trapped in the cycle of poverty, as their suffering increases due to lack of education, healthcare and basic facilities.
🟢 Poverty not only affects the financial situation, but also affects the psychological aspect, leading to a deterioration in the quality of life.
🟢 There are also social influences, as individuals suffer from social stigma that makes them feel isolated and disadvantaged.
🟢 The phenomenon of begging is one of the most obvious manifestations of poverty, as those in need resort to direct methods to obtain money. This phenomenon is very visible in public spaces, where people can see marginalized groups begging for a living.
🟢 Begging is not only a way of living, but it is also the result of great social and economic pressures that families endure. This condition leads to the spread of psychological problems such as anxiety and depression as beggars feel helpless and lose hope for a better future.
🟢 The impact of poverty goes beyond crime, as fraud and pickpocketing are seen by many as a means of survival.
🟢 These crimes are increasing in difficult economic conditions, which push individuals to seek to meet their needs by any means possible.
🟢 The street becomes the scene of tragic events which lead to a loss of trust between people and make life more dangerous.
🟢 These activities not only affect the victims, but also cause the perpetrators to be ostracized by society.
Poverty hits women and girls hardest, as they face a dual challenge in society.
🟢 In many cases, they are forced to abandon themselves to begging or violence due to the need to escape the cycle of need.
🟢 Girls exposed to exploitation in different contexts is becoming commonplace, which threatens their future. Low religious and educational motivation can lead to a lack of family protection, making girls victims of vice and exploitation.
🟢 The rich often stay in the safe zone, where they can observe the scene of poverty from afar without feeling the suffering. These people live in luxury that includes no interaction with the tragedy of poverty or reform efforts.
🟢 The rich feel like they are in a theater characterized by a vivid representation of the tragedy of poverty, but they show no sympathy or desire to help.
🟢 This selective effect contributes to the continuation of the vicious circle from which society suffers, which requires a radical change of thinking and attitude towards these social issues.
