Acting Federal Minister of Health meets with Regional Director of Al-Basr Charitable Foundation

*The Minister: The Sight Charitable Foundation has contributed to the localization of eye and surgical care in Sudan*.

*Director of Al-Basr Charity: We have implemented 37 free camps and campaigns that have benefited more than 140,000 patients, and we plan to conduct 1,150 free quality operations*.

Federal Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Muhammad Ibrahim pledged to overcome the difficulties and obstacles facing Al-Basr Charitable Foundation (Makkah Hospital), given his contribution in helping the ministry localize ophthalmological and surgical treatments in Sudan at affordable prices, as well as through free ophthalmological camps, especially in remote areas, as well as training cadres and developing health facilities in which operations are performed in different states, describing it as a source of pride.

The Minister confirmed during his meeting today in his quarantine office in Port Sudan, the regional director of the Basr Charitable Foundation, Dr. Al-Aas Ahmed Kamel and his accompanying delegation, continuing the joint cooperation between the ministry and the Al-Basr Charitable Association.

The minister welcomed the idea of ​​partial or total exemption of fees for operations, examinations, etc., in various hospitals for patients, which helps the poorest segments, and worked to continue providing health services in light of these circumstances in which the country finds itself by crossing and bridging the gap in ophthalmological services, calling on the organization to reinstate training programs to qualify doctors working in the field of ophthalmology.

The regional director of Al-Basr Charitable Foundation, Dr. Al-Aas Ahmed Kamel said that 80% of blindness cases can be prevented, pointing out the number of campaigns carried out during the war period, more than (37) and (1150) free qualitative operations for glaucoma, retinal laser, strabismus and other operations in eye hospitals in Makkah, Port Sudan, Atbara, El Obeid and Damazin benefited more than 140,000 patients, he stressed, in addition to conducting and distributing examinations to patients for free, mentioning their efforts established in some African countries.
