After an official visit to Juba – the President of the Sovereignty Council returns home

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, returned home today after an official visit to Juba, which lasted one day, during which he held joint talks with the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, on the developments in bilateral relations and ways to support and develop them.

He was received at Port Sudan airport by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Yassin Ibrahim Yassin, the Secretary General of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Muhammad al-Ghali Ali Youssef, and several ministers.

The Minister-designate of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Awad, explained in a press statement that the visit was fruitful and constructive and achieved its objectives, noting that the discussions between the two presidents focused on the developments in bilateral relations and the prospects for joint cooperation between the two countries in various fields. He added that the two sides agreed to overcome all obstacles to the transportation of South Sudanese oil through Sudanese territory, by forming a joint committee between the oil ministries of the two countries and developing an operational plan to restore the pumping of oil from the south. In addition to the agreement to transfer humanitarian aid to South Kordofan State via Juba International Airport.

The Foreign Minister-designate praised the level of relations between Sudan and South Sudan, noting the advanced level of cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
