The technical committee of the Yas Aqaba National Road revealed that the clearing and filling works of the road have been 95% completed, noting that the road which connects parts of the localities of Al-Qanab and Al-Olib and Nile State, which is 62 kilometers from the Red Sea state's capital, Port Sudan, this would reduce the distance for travelers by more than 55 kilometers. There will be a new port for the state next to the Aqaba road. support asphalting and side bridge work on the road before the fall season in order to avoid erosion of the completed embankments.

Director of the Yas Aqaba Opening Project, Engineer Muhammad Al-Amin Heikal, announced that the road sections and rehabilitation had been 95% completed.

After working for a full year, knowing that the length of the road from the city of Port Sudan is 62 kilometers and that of Aqaba is 2 and a half kilometers, 8 machines were worked.

Heikal said the initial total cost set for the project's clearing, backfilling and paving works, which had previously been set by one of the investment companies, was around 4 billion pounds, but the Actual disbursement that took place through civil and official efforts has not been achieved. not reach a billion pounds.

Heikal stressed the urgent need to asphalt a number of areas in Aqaba and build side bridges to drain water before rains fall to avoid damage to road embankments and their erosion.

The president of the technical committee underlined the need to carry out a study which would make it possible to attract investors to finance the road project and contribute to the lighting and asphalting works which would contribute to attracting services. In a related context, Al-Amarr Superintendent Ali Mahmoud, while celebrating popular support for Al-Amarar and independent verticals for the project at Yas Aqaba Summit, praised the efforts of the workers, indicating that the This road would serve the country by increasing the amount of exports and facilitating the arrival of large companies to invest in the locality of Cannabis and Olympia through which it passes, considered one of the localities rich in minerals and fertile lands of the Red Sea State.

He added that the opening of the Yas Aqaba road contributes to bridging the distance between the Al-Amarar and Al-Bishariyin regions and connects the civilizations and culture of the regions together, in addition to its contribution to the introduction of health, electricity. , education and sustainable development services.

Mayor Hamid Abu Zeinab said the project is one of the development projects that contribute to the modernization of many areas. For his part, he thanked the parties who contributed to the success of the project and called on the official authorities to support the completion of the project. the final stages of the project as it is one of the national projects which were established largely on the basis of popular effort.
