Al-Burhan attends signing of agreements in the field of electricity production

Today, in the Chinese capital, Beijing, agreements were signed in the field of electricity production, in the presence of the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Engineer Mohieddin Naeem, the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, and the Ambassador of Sudan to China, Ambassador Omar Siddiq.

It was signed on behalf of the Sudanese side by Engineer Abdullah Ahmed Muhammad Ali on behalf of Sudan Electricity Holding Company, Engineer Omar Taha on behalf of Sona Gas Company and Dr. Mudawi Abdel Karim on behalf of Sudan Thermal Generation Company. The Minister of Energy and Petroleum said in a press statement that there is an urgent need to develop the electricity sector in Sudan after the damage caused by the war.

Stressing that the Chinese company CMC, which will carry out these works, is a qualified company with many experiences in Sudan, where it will start rehabilitating the Al-Fula station and will be operated with the associated gas to cover all the states of Darfur. He said that the priority of the works would be in the agricultural and mining production areas, and he added that the Chinese company would also work to rehabilitate the electricity transmission lines destroyed due to the war.

The Minister of Energy and Petroleum referred to the Chinese company's extensive experience in the field of solar energy, indicating that efforts are being made to operate the Umm Dabaker station via gas or solar energy, which will help maintain the electricity supply.
