Al-Sharif confirms Nile State government's support for humanitarian programs
Mr. Mustafa Mohamed Othman Al-Sharif, Acting Minister of Social Affairs and Minister of Culture and Information of Nile State, reaffirmed the state government's commitment to supporting all humanitarian initiatives aimed at to improve the lives of citizens, while paying particular attention to the most vulnerable groups, in particular pregnant women and children.
This came during his speech at the conclusion of a workshop on the cash transfer program for pregnant mothers and children, organized by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). In partnership with the State Ministries of Social Affairs and Health, and in cooperation with the organizations “Binaa for Development” and “Idaad Al-Wataniya”.
This workshop aims to qualify project staff, including social researchers and health visitors, on the mechanics of the cash transfer program for mothers and children, including how to help pregnant women obtain the services health care and nutrition needed for them and their children.
The Minister highlighted the Nile State's willingness to open its doors to humanitarian organizations, expressing his aspiration for fruitful cooperation with various organizations working within the State, which contributes to serving the humanity of the Condition in all areas.
Al-Sharif praised the pioneering role played by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in supporting humanitarian work in Nile State, expressing sincere appreciation for the organization's tangible efforts in various fields .
The minister announced his favorable reception of the financial transfer program dedicated to supporting pregnant women and children, calling on mothers to benefit from this program to improve the health of pregnant women and better care for their children.
The minister praised the efforts of executives working at the Ministry of Social Affairs, and particularly appreciated the efforts of researchers in social sciences, welcoming their central role in supporting and assisting families and individuals in various areas, highlighting the the Ministry's interest in the development and qualification of worker executives.
For her part, Dr. Magda Abdullah, representative of the State Minister of Health and Director of the General Health Care Department, praised the importance of the program in improving the health of mothers and children in the State, emphasizing the ministry's commitment to supporting such initiatives.
Dr Majda urged health visitors to encourage pregnant women to make a plan for pregnancy and childbirth, and pay attention to good nutrition for pregnant women and children.
It should be noted that the cash transfer program for pregnant women and children is in its pilot phase targeting the localities of Atbara and Al-Damar and will be expanded to cover 15,000 mothers in the state.
