American sanctions: ink on paper – the brilliance of passers-by – ✍️ Raed Doctor – Hisham Al-Sheikh Al-Awad

For many decades, the United States has pursued a “carrot and stick” policy in its relations with Sudan, following a consistent approach that makes no distinction between successive leaders or regimes that have ruled the country. Anyone who thinks that Washington supports a particular party or prefers one regime over another is actually mistaken. The modern history of Sudan, at its various stages, clearly reveals that US policy towards Sudan has remained constant without significant change, regardless of the identity of the leader, whether right, left or even from centrist parties. .
The United States considers Sudan a strategic enemy and an ongoing threat to its national security and regional interests. This is why it is working tirelessly to tear it apart and weaken it, whether through direct intervention or through known regional agents, or through Sudanese parties and individuals accomplices. It also uses other means, such as economic warfare and diplomatic sanctions, to weaken the state and create fissures in its social and political structure.
The recent US sanctions imposed on the head of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, are not the first and will not be the last. The real target of these sanctions is not Burhan himself, but rather Sudan as a country and people. This measure is nothing more than an open attempt to undermine the confidence of the Sudanese people in their leadership represented by Burhan, and an attempt to sow discord between the leader and his people. But as events have shown, these attempts failed miserably. The Sudanese people have proven, through their clear positions, that these sanctions represent nothing more than ink on paper and have no value in changing the course of events.
When Washington realized that the Sudanese armed forces were on the verge of a decisive victory over the Rapid Support terrorist militia, it quickly imposed new sanctions on the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. The objective was clear: to put pressure on Al-Burhan to force him to back down or accept negotiations on unfair terms. But he overlooked a fundamental fact, which is that the Sudanese people increasingly rally behind their leaders whenever sanctions are imposed or pressure is applied. The popular protests that swept the streets to denounce American sanctions confirmed a clear message to the entire world: “No negotiations or withdrawal until the last rebels and mercenaries are eliminated.”
The Sudanese people see their leader as one of the ordinary people, a person who does not have a bank account in America and does not own businesses or factories subject to these sanctions. Al-Burhan is not a businessman, but rather a national leader from the depths of this people, who has assumed the responsibility of defending the nation and protecting it from internal and external challenges. His determination is unwavering and he will not rest until he sees Sudan free of militias, traitors and mercenaries.
The recent sanctions are not only aimed at the person of Al-Burhan, but in fact, they are sanctions directed against all patriotic Sudanese jealous of their homeland. However, this did not weaken the resolve of the people, but rather increased their determination to resist and fight until complete victory was achieved. The people have made their position clear: they will not give in or stop until they cleanse the country of all militias and puppet forces and rebuild their homeland with loyal Sudanese hands who know neither the treason or mercenarism.
The future belongs to Sudan and its faithful children, and tomorrow is near. The Sudanese people, with their determination and unity, are the ones who will write the last word in this confrontation and prove to the world that the strength of the national will is capable of overcoming all challenges and conspiracies.
